We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager/Estimator with civil construction experience to join our team at our Phoenix, AZ office.
The Project Manager/Estimator will work under the direction of the VP of Project Management & Estimating.
Estimator Responsibilities:
Follow estimating procedures.
Bid selection.
Work with the estimate team.
Develop an estimate schedule and meet actual schedule set.
Assemble estimate.
Estimate review.
Bid delivery and follow-up.
Aggressively market new and present clients.
Find new places to find projects to bid, i.e., private owners, engineers, municipalities, etc.
Maintain a level of involvement with projects throughout the building phase, from the pre-construction phase through closeout.
Project Management Responsibilities:
Work with Heavy Job and Heavy Bid.
Review costs daily.
Review quality daily – quantities, pictures.
Coordinating with Superintendents regarding schedules, labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, suppliers, etc.
Inform General Superintendents and Field Operations Manager of significant budget busts and quality issues.
Create and maintain weekly schedules to ensure Budget Management and Tracking.
Manage cost/change control, including change order review, negotiation and recommendations, delay analysis and ensure tracking of all key project documents (including submittals, RFI’s, change orders, invoices and payments, lien releases, etc. are being enforced).
Control Extra Work Orders.
Write and have all EWOs signed before work is started.
Print and have all Recaps signed daily.
Document Control.
Plan revisions/pricing/distribution GS, FS, As-built Table.
File electronic copies of all Project Documentation procured by FS listed above.
Procure and file electronic copies of ROW/Street Cut/Fire Line/Domestic Service/Permits/etc.
Address project issues.
Schedule-related.
Cost-related.
Quality-related.
Project management.
Review the percent complete on phase codes with FS.
Invoice approval/Tracking.
Projections of each project weekly with FS/GS buy-in.
Conduct weekly key project update meetings or every morning recap meetings.
Control extra work orders.
Review costs daily.
Review quality of HJ input daily – pictures, quantities, notes.
Inform General Superintendent and Field Operation Manager of significant budget busts or quality issues.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with underground utilities, earthwork, roadway reconstruction and civil construction required.
Effective negotiation skills.
Extreme attention to detail.
Computer skills in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and HCSS.
Superior customer service skills required.
Excellent organization and planning skills.
Must be able to effectively communicate and manage subcontractors.
Valid Driver’s license.
Education and Experience:
Education: · Minimum High school diploma/GED required.
Experience: 5+ years of experience with Civil and/or Heavy Highway Construction.

Office Roles:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Climate-controlled office environment with varying temperatures
Occasional travel to jobsites with exposure to fluctuating weather conditions
Shop & Field Roles:
Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, ranging from freezing temperatures to heat above 90°F, in both wet and dry conditions
Work may be performed in confined spaces
Exposure to odors, gases, dust, and dirt
Noise levels ranging from moderate to loud
Frequent lifting and carrying of 10-60 pounds; occasional lifting up to 100 pounds
Frequent overhead reaching and lifting
The majority of time spent standing, crawling, climbing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching
Manual labor, including hand digging as needed
Some Saturday work is required; Sundays are rarely needed
